Welcome to Gather! We're about to take you to your profile page. This is both your public face on Gather and your own personal collaboration space, so before you explore Gather any further, you'll want to set this page up. To begin, make sure your name appears as you want others to see it. If you see an error, simply click on your name to edit. Then, set your profile picture by dragging and dropping an image of you into the circle in the upper left corner.
Once you've finished with that, you'll want to set your subtitle — this is your professional position/role and will appear beneath your name when people search for you — and your contact information, if any. You'll also want to fill in your description, which is where you can put a brief bio and list what you're looking for on Gather, and set your institution, engagement type/specialty, and location tags, which will allow others to find you more easily.
After that, the final step is to familiarize yourself with your three profile tabs:
- The Snapshot tab is what you've been working on so far, and is the default tab that you and visitors to your profile will see.
- The Tasks tab is a list of tasks that have been assigned to you by Gather. These tasks are intended to help you familiarize yourself with Gather, and may change as we add features.
- The Messages tab is where other users can leave you public messages and invite you to collaborate.
That's it! You're ready to go! From there, we recommend you take a look at our Pocket Guide to Gather Lingo and then head on over to the Gather Slack channel and introduce yourself.
